In-form Highridge United entered the round two hat with relative ease thanks to a 6-1 defeat of Wick at Lakemead Grove. They took the lead on 23 minutes when Ricky Briggs’ surging run down the left and cross was perfect for Dan Elson to find the bottom corner with his head.Highridge doubled their lead within minutes when a through ball was collected by the tricky Briggs, who lofted it over the advancing keeper and squared it for the on-rushing Jack Dicker to fire home.Wick did pull one back, only for Highridge to restore their two-goal advantage on the stroke of half-time when Elson provided the finish from a corner. The second period continued with Highridge on top as Jon Berrys substitutions paid off instantly, Dale Peckham’s clinical header from Kevin Taylor’s delivery, Billy Rees’ 25-yard strike and Taylor’s far-post finish courtesy of Lee Nichols’ drilled cross, ensuring the hosts a comfortable passage into the next round.
